Each year, up to five residents begin the four-year program to prepare for a career as a physician, surgeon, or contributor to the profession.

Each year, up to four clinical fellows begin the fellowship program with the Dean McGee Department of Ophthalmology, training for a specific subspecialty.

Residency Program

Consistently ranked among the top programs in the nation, this expansive four-year residency offers extensive surgical, clinical, and research opportunities. Residents benefit from hands-on training under dedicated faculty, preparing them for elite careers in both academic and private ophthalmic practice.

Fellowship Program

Designed for subspecialty training, these advanced programs offer immersive clinical and surgical experience in fields such as cornea, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, and surgical retina care. As a major referral center, training here exposes fellows to a massive volume of both complex and rare cases.

Medical Student Program

This program provides clinical shadowing, case-based lectures, and hands-on skills workshops for third- and fourth-year medical students at the OU College of Medicine. It also features an immersive, four-week Advanced Ophthalmology Clerkship for fourth-year students pursuing an ophthalmology residency.
